The author that I think is under-noticed is YA author Melina Marchetta. She wrote an amazing book called Jellicoe Road or On the Jellicoe Road (I've seen it with both titles). It's one of my favorite books and if you haven't read it yet go get it. I have another one of her books,Saving Francesca, on my TBR pile.

Science fiction and horror are the two genres that have stuck with me since I was a kid. That brings me back to Esther Friesner, an excellent science fiction author that I think too few people know about.

The author I think is under noticed is Rachel Caine. She has two great series that totally should be getting more press. The Morganville Vampires and the Weather Warden series. Have you read any of them? I like the Morganville series alot.
