Friday Night Date Night

On Fridays I wanted to do something a little different then what I normally do.  I decided that on Fridays I'm going to do movie reviews.  I'm hoping to review mostly movies adapted from books, but I'm sure other movies that were not based on books will pop up every now and then.  Hopefully some of these reviews will help you decide what to watch on your date night or a night of chillin with the girls.
Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board
I kept hearing rave reviews about Soul Surfer. My sister and brother-in-law loved it, and my friend's mom (who rates movies by how many Kleenexes she needs) told me it was a 20 tissue movie.  So I had high hopes when I rented this movie last weekend.  Did Soul Surfer live up to the hype?  Personally, I think it surpassed all of my expectations.
I instantly fell in love with this movie.  Who doesn't love the beach with the gorgeous ocean and the pristine sand carpet?  I've always wanted to surf, so seeing Bethany and her best friend Alana surf and striving to go pro was an inspiration itself.  Then the dreaded shark attack happened.  I can't image losing an arm and having to not only learn how to do everything a little different but also lose the one thing I loved.  Bethany stayed positive throughout the whole experience.  She didn't give up and was determined to not only surfer again, but to be just as good as she was when she had two arms.
This video was so inspiring.  That is the main reason I liked this movie so much.  After I watched it I felt uplifted and I wanted to go out and change the world.  Bethany's family was awesome.  They were amazingly supportive and even before the attack they really seemed to be there for each other.

Some of the things that didn't work was the acting at times.  Don't get me wrong Carrie Underwood is an amazing singer and completely gorgeous, but I don't think acting is her calling.  But Helen Hunt looked amazing in this movie.  When I'm 48 I hope I look half as good as she does.  I'm quite jealous!
